Enola Holmes 2 (2022) a sequel of the film Enola Holmes (2020) directed by Harry Bradbeer. This research aims to depict the characteristics of the main female character in the film Enola Holmes 2 and uncover how is the complexity of Enola Holmes as a female character in patriarchal society. In this research, the reseracher applied a qualitative research method with a descriptive analysis technique in analyzing the data. The instrument of the research is the researcher as the subject of research by watching, collecting, identifying, being able to understand and analyzing data obtained from Enola Holmes 2 film. To support the analysis, the researcher used the Deconstruction theory by Jacques Derrida as the main theory, also the theory of Character and Characterization by Dennis W. Petrie and Joseph M. Boggs. The analysis reveals there are three characteristics of Enola Holmes in this film those are independent, brave, and intelligent. But after conducting a more detailed deconstructive analysis of Enola Holmes' characteristics, it was revealed that there is a complexity in her portrayal as a female detective within a patriarchal society. Enola Holmes is depicted as being constrained by the societal norms of the Victorian era, which prevent her from fully embodying her genuine identity as an independent, courageous and intelligent female detective. As the result, the film Enola Holmes 2 portrays the character of Enola Holmes, who remains entrenched in the 19th-century setting. Through deconstructive reading and the application of deconstruction theory in analysis, the film reveals Enola Holmes with unstereotypical female characteristics during her time, and she also has to negociate with the social structure of that time to achieve her goal as a female detective in Victorian era.
