This research aims to find and classify culture specific items in the original novel Perahu Kertas and its translation also analyzes the translation strategy used by translator to translates novels. This research used qualitative method. Researcher reads from original and translates novel, finds, analyzes, and explains data in the form of culture specific items and translation strategy using Baker’s theory. This research finds twenty six culture specific items and four translation strategy. Researcher analyzes culture specific items using KBBI sources and also the Oxford Dictionary. In addition, the researcher also explains culture specific items and translation strategy based on Baker’s theory. The researcher finds twenty six culture specific items selected, such as the differences in physical or interpersonal perspective category, nine parts of the source language concept is not lexicalized in the target language category, nine parts of the translation use of a loan word in the source text, and last five parts from the SL word category which is semantically complex. In addition, the researcher also finds four selected translation strategy, 1) Translation by a more neutral or less expressive word, 2) Translation by cultural substitution, 3) Translation using a loan word, 4) Translation by paraphrase using unrelated word. Researcher classify, analyze and explain data in the form of cultural words and translation procedures.
