This research aimed to identify the type of slang expression based on its function used in the source language and to describe the slang translation strategy applied in the translation webtoon Lookism, so the translation can deal with meaning equivalence. The corpus was taken from the English and Indonesian versions of the webtoon entitled ‘Lookism’ by Park Tae Joon which was first published in November 2014 on the Korean platform, Naver. A qualitative method was used in this research using theories by Elisa Matiello for slang expression types, Karolina Butkuvienė and Lolita Petrulionė for slang translation strategy, Nida and Taber for meaning equivalence to reach research objectives. Furthermore, documentation was used in this research through comprehensive reading and note-taking. The result of this research showed that: First, three types of slang expressions were found in the source language. There were 8 vulgarity and obscenity slangs, 4 group and subject restriction slang, and 3 informality and debasement slangs; Second, there are 3 slang translation strategies that were utilized in the process of translation, and softening was the most used strategy among them. There were 7 softening strategies, 6 stylistic compensation strategies, and 2 literal translation strategies; Third, meaning equivalences dealt with by the translator consist of dynamic equivalence and formal equivalence. Additionally, there are also translations that do not achieve any meaning equivalence. In essence, every slang expression needs to deal with various slang translation strategies according to the context, target audience, and the ways the translator wants to deliver the text.
