This research is text analysis and translation that discusses modulation procedure in the main character's dialogue in the sea beast film subtitle. It aims to classify and analyze the subtitle of the main character's dialogue based on vinay and dalbernet's theory about modulation as one of the translation procedures. It also finds the equivalence between those dialogues' source language and target language based on nida’s theory. Then, this research uses the qualitative method employed to provide descriptive data. After doing the analysis, in this research, there were 32 data of abstract for concrete, 43 of explicative modulation, 7 of part for the whole, 5 of one part for another, 12 of reversal of terms, 7 of negation of the opposite, 2 of active to passive, 1 of space for time, 4 of exchange of interval for limit, and 11 of change of symbol. Therefore, the results of this research show that all types of modulation have been found, with the kind often used being explicative modulation. Meanwhile, for equivalence, almost all translations are included in dynamic equivalence. Only 8 translations out of 124 data belong in formal equivalence. In conclusion, this research reveals that the translator's perspective significantly influences the translation results. Its change of point of view aims to achieve an understanding of intent between source and receptor by emphasizing the target language and looking at the context. Therefore, almost all translations are included in dynamic equivalence because the function is to achieve equivalent messages in tl.
