This research proposes finding deixis and its usage in the Turning Red film. Deictic expression with deictic usage found in the film is the scope of this research. This research method is qualitative as it is expected to produce verbal data. The data of this research is from the subtitle transcript and visual speech situations in the film, which is then analyzed based on the theory of deixis by Cruse (2000). The data obtained will be categorized into one of five types of deixis; person deixis, spatial deixis, temporal deixis, social deixis, and discourse deixis. The deixis then being analyzed, whether it includes gestural or symbolic usage. From the 35 data that have been selected, this research reveals that person deixis with expressions I, me, my, you, your, yourself, they, their, them, we, our, she, her, and it and are found in the data. Temporal deixis used in the film are found in expressions now, then, tonight, tomorrow, before, finally, this morning, and this Friday. Besides that, the social deixis is applied to expressions my jam, girl, Mother, Ma'am, Mom, and Mr. Ultimately, the discourse deictic expression that and this also found in the film. Most of the deixis is used symbolically in the film, as their interpretation is only based on the basic parameters provided in the utterance of the film. Moreover, deixis and deictic usage in this film enhance the clarity of certain lexical expressions in language use.
