This study aims to examine the practice of hegemonic masculinity and its influence on the practice of the „comfort women‟ sexual violence system by Japanese Imperial Military which happens during Japanese occupation in Korea as portrayed in the novel White Chrysanthemum, written by Mary Lynn Bracht. The writer used qualitative method with descriptive analysis in order to elaborate this research regarding the practice of hegemonic masculinity by the Japanese Military, likewise, to explain hegemonic masculinity influence on wartime sexual slavery by focusing on women as the victim. To further analyze the relation between the concepts of hegemonic masculinity and wartime sexual violence, firstly, this study explores the issue by using the concept of masculinity by R.W Connell to describe about the normalization of certain problematic behavior on men that society constructed into thinking as „masculine‟ expression. Secondly, feminist perspective on sexual violence helps to explore the issue of sexual violence as more than just a by-product of war. In this case, the result of this research scrutinizes the practice of hegemonic masculinity by the Japanese Imperial Army such as power, control, sexual performance, physical and emotional strength. Then, this study elaborates the hegemonic masculinity influence on wartime sexual violence activity also the reason why the practice of the „comfort women‟ system being implemented and organized by the Japanese Military Army targeting young girls and women as the victim
