The purposes of this study are to describing functions of assertive illocutionary act
from Nick’s utterance in source text, identifying the translation techniques applied
and discovering the effects of the applied translation technique towards of the
accuracy in translating the utterance. The researcher uses qualitative method to
explore the objective of the research. The sources of data is an streaming movie
entitled Crazy Rich Asians by Jon M.Chu. The English and Indonesian version are
taken from www.subscene.com. The result of the analysis showed that there are
seven functions of assertive. The result of data analysis showed there are fourteen
frequent of translation technique which applied to translate the subtitle (115 cases),
modulation, adaptation, particularization, generalization, borrowing, literall
translation, transposition, establish equivalent, linguistic amplification, linguistic
compression, reduction, compensation, amplification, description . Meanwhile, the
analysis of accuracy shows that the level of accuracy is high. It is due to the fact
that there are only a few data consider to be less accurate and inaccurate. The level
of accuracy implied the data are generally the translation is good.
